Mase Being Sued For Stealing Model’s Photo To Promote Song

Mase Being Sued For Stealing Model’s Photo To Promote Song

Rapper Ma$e might be paying some big bucks as reports claim the former Bad Boy Recordsaffiliate is being sued by a model who says he used a photo of her for cover art for song without permission.
According to reports, Stephanie Delado is taking legal action against Mase.
“Mase’s return to rap is off to a rough start — he’s getting sued over his comeback song by a model who claims he jacked her photo to promote his song. According to a lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Stephanie Delgado (who goes by Stephanie Rao for modeling) claims Mase lifted the photo straight from her Instagram page and used it to promote his new song, “Why Can’t We.” (TMZ)
The model is trying to sue Mase for $200,000 in damages.
“Rao says no one ever contacted her asking for permission to use the photo … which she says ended up being used on more than 40 different sites to promote the song. Rao is seeking royalties in the amount of $60,000 and damages in the amount of $180,000. In the perfect world, Rao would’ve added … “Take that, take that ” — but she didn’t.” (TMZ)

Justin Bieber accused of attempted robbery ... of a cellphone

In this week's episode of Justin Bieber's brush with the law, the pop singer has been accused of attempted robbery, police said.
It sounds worse than it may be: The alleged incident is apparently over a cellphone.
The Los Angeles Police Department didn't offer up too many details.
Police spokeswoman Rosario Herrera said the incident in question took place Monday night. The department didn't receive a complaint until Tuesday, and officers were interviewing the person Tuesday night.

Herrera wouldn't say any more.
CNN affiliate KTLA was able to tease a little bit more out of police.
Officers were called out because Bieber had allegedly tried to take a girl's phone, Sgt. Paul McLaughlin told the affiliate.

The gossip website TMZ said it spoke with a woman who identified herself as the one who filed the complaint:
The woman said Bieber and his crew "got into an altercation with some guys" at a batting cage in Sherman Oaks on Monday night, according to the website.
Bieber saw her reaching for her cell phone, and demanded she hand over her phone so he could delete any photos she may have snapped, TMZ said.
When she refused, he reached into her purse and grabbed it, the woman told the site.
CNN's attempts to reach Bieber's reps or his lawyer were unsuccessful Tuesday night. CNN was also trying to get in touch with the managers of the batting cage where the incident reportedly occurred.
As for Bieber, he was in Oklahoma City taking in a game between the Los Angeles Clippers and the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Whirlwind of controversy
The accusation is just the latest incident in what has been a whirlwind year of controversy for the pop star.
The Federal Aviation Administration also is investigating allegations that Bieber and other passengers onboard a charter flight from Canada to New Jersey's Teterboro Airport interfered with the flight crew, the agency said.

None of the criminal charges facing Bieber, including the expected vandalism count, appear to threaten his freedom. Probation sentences, fines, community service and counseling are routinely given in such cases.

Jay Z, Beyonce & Solange Knowles' Bodyguard Criticized By UFC Hall Of Famer Ken Shamrock

Jay Z, Beyonce & Solange Knowles' Bodyguard Criticized By UFC Hall Of Famer Ken Shamrock
UFC Hall Of Famer Ken Shamrock on Jay Z/Solange Knowles altercation: "The bodyguard should never have put them on the elevator together. You're waiting for a time bomb to go off."
Ken Shamrock, a former UFC champion and WWF wrestler who now works in private security for high-profile people with Pro-Tect Global, has criticized the bodyguard who was in the elevator with Jay Z, Beyonce and Solange Knowles when Solange assaulted Jay Z
"It's pretty clear that something went off [between Jay Z and Solange] before the fight," Shamrock says in an interview with TMZ. "The bodyguard should never have put them on the elevator together. You're waiting for a time bomb to go off. And when it does, you're stuck."
Shamrock also critiqued another moment from the footage.
"Rather than getting in between Jay and Solange, he was pressing the elevator buttons," Shamrock says. "It seemed to me he didn't know what his job was."
Shamrock also acknowledges that the situation was a difficult one and that "it's easy to judge from afar," according to TMZ.

Dr. Dre Asked To Help Restore Compton, Mayor Aja Brown Offers Key To City

Dr. Dre Asked To Help Restore Compton, Mayor Aja Brown Offers Key To City
Mayor Aja Brown says she wants to give Dr. Dre a key to Compton and that she hopes he can help restore the city.
Compton, California Mayor Aja Brown says she wants to give Dr. Dre, who has represented Compton throughout his career, a key to the city, according to TMZ.
Brown also says she wants to involve Dre in the restoration of Compton. Specifically, Brown says she hopes to have Dre's assistance in sponsoring performance arts or music programs in the city, according to the publication.
If Dr. Dre were to accept the the key to the city, he wouldn't be the first emcee to do so. The report says DJ Quik has also earned a key for his efforts in charity.
In April 2011, Quik spoke with HipHopDX about receiving the key to the city. "I was such a philanthropist I probably gave away $250,000 to the city of Compton, my guy," Quik said at the time. "And who will ever say that? I got the key to the city of Compton when I was 29-years-old. They didn’t give me that for my music. That music was violent. They gave me that because of how I was going back into them schools and raising money for them schools."
This Dr. Dre news follows reports of the producer being involved in a deal between Apple and Beats Electronics. According to reports which surfaced last week, Dre stands to make $1 billion if Apple purchases Beats. The rapper appeared to confirm the reports in a video released by Tyrese
"The first billionaire in Hip Hop right here from the motherfucking West Coast," Dre says in the clip.
Dr. Dre has referenced Compton in many of his songs. For example, on "Bitch Niggaz" off 2001, Dr. Dre raps the following: "Straight off the streets of chaos and no pity / The aggravated, makin' these punk mothafuckers hate it / Compton is the city I'm from / Can't ever leave the crib without a murder weapon."

Gucci Mane Strikes Plea Deal, Set To Be In Jail Until 2016

Gucci Mane Strikes Plea Deal, Set To Be In Jail Until 2016
Gucci Mane pleads guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Gucci Mane is set to be in jail until at least late 2016, TMZreports.
The rapper reportedly struck a deal as a result of pleading guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, the publication says.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of 10 years, however, Gucci Mane's agreement says he's scheduled to face only 39 months. He will also be given a 10-month credit for the time he's served.
Gucci is set to be sentenced in July. The rapper has also been given a $250,000 fine.
Gucci was arrested in September 2013 for carrying a loaded handgun and marijuana.

CeeLo Green Doesn't Regret Passing On "Happy," Praises Pharrell's Generosity

CeeLo Green Doesn't Regret Passing On "Happy," Praises Pharrell's Generosity

CeeLo Green: "Karma is rewarding [Pharrell] because he was all prepared to give all that away."
CeeLo Green, who reportedly passed on Pharrell's "Happy," was recently asked if he regrets foregoing his opportunity to release the track now that it has had chart-topping success.
"No, no, no," CeeLo says in an interview with TMZ. "Not regret."
When Pharrell announced that "Happy" was initially for CeeLo, the producer also said "he burns my version." CeeLo commented on this praise, as well.
"I won't say that," CeeLo says. "That's him being modest. I appreciate that. I respect that. He's a generous brother. I think karma is rewarding him because he was all prepared to give all that away. The fact that it's worked so immensely well for him is very gratifying for the both of us."
CeeLo says he will likely not release his version of "Happy."
"I think I'll just let it be," he says.
CeeLo also promises "more material coming soon, later in the year."

Meek Mill Discusses Racism, Civil Lawsuit Against Philadelphia Police

Meek Mill Discusses Racism, Civil Lawsuit Against Philadelphia Police

"I don't dislike cops," the rapper says. "I got family that's cops, friends that's cops. Why would I even take this amount of time to do all this?"
After news that Meek Mill lost a civil suit against the city of Philadelphia and its Police Department earlier this week, the rapper spoke with Complex about the case and his reaction to the decision. The suit stems from a 2012 incident in which the rapper claims he was pulled over and had his vehicle unlawfully searched. Mill alleges that the traffic stop conflicted with a private jet flight and public appearance he was set to make as well as affected his endorsement deal with Puma negatively.
“The cops just came out on top,” he said. “The cop I had a lawsuit on, he had about so many complaints about him. He got fired right after I sued them. But he didn’t get fired for me suing them. On the day of court it was like they just believed the cop. I didn’t know that cop had 80 priors when I sued them. I found that when my lawyer investigated and found that out. You know how it go in Federal Court. It’s a jury. They pick a jury. I respect the opinion of the jury but most of the people in the jury was White. They don’t really like understand. They might live on a farm, some of these people live in like suburban areas, they don’t understand the culture where I come from. All they gonna understand is, ‘He’s a cop and he’s not a cop.’ They just went with his word. I was basically like, ‘I’m making a good amount of money. Why would I even waste time on suing this cop or taking any action on this guy.’ I don’t dislike cops. I got family that’s cops, friends that’s cops. Why would I even take this amount of time to even do all this? I had to go to court from 9:00 AM to 4:00 AM everyday this week. I just don’t feel it man. That’s some old timer shit. Most of all the people that’s racist [are] 80 years old. They on their way out anyway. I see ten years from now all that shit’ll be erased in the world. That will be like the past.”
Mill’s civil suit was directed not only at the city of Philadelphia but also at specific officers in question.
“I’m just against racist shit,” he later said when asked about his reaction to the recent Donald Sterling fiasco. I’m not racist. I do shows—I say like ‘nigga’ in my raps a lot—my shows are half White, half Black. I look at the White kids in the crowd they say ‘nigga’ to the song. They not saying it in a disappointing way. I allow it at my shows because if you’re not saying it in a form of disrespect, why take it that way?”
Asked about the possibility of a so-called conscious thread in his music, Mill said he raps “about that shit all the time.”
“About being judged,” he added. “You don’t gotta be Black you could just be anybody. If a White kid move in my neighborhood in the hood where I’m from I don’t think he should be treated any different because he’s a different skin color or anything. In our hood it’s White, Black, everything. They might be into dirt bikes the way we into dirt bikes. We all ride together. We ride as one. If he fall and bust his head we gon’ sit there and wait for that guy to get up and make sure he in good shape no matter if he Black, White, Puerto Rican, anything. He’s still a human being.”
